Kubu Island (a.k.a. lehkubu; a.k.a. Taba tsa Kudu), rising from the middle of the Makgadikgadi Pans in central Botswana, is a magical place. Ancient granite monoliths are surmounted by a forest of Baobab and M'bola Plum trees whos roots seek out deep water supplies.
